Bino Plant boss

The executive board has appointed Professor Raoul Bino (48) the new general director of the Plant Sciences Group. He succeeds the current rector Professor Martin Kropff. The appointment was announced on Wednesday 2 November. Bino said that he intends to encourage plant scientists to take risks. ‘There will be no reprisals for those who make a mistake as the result of taking a risk. We have to dare to reach further than what we are familiar with.’ Bino has held various management positions at Plant Research International. At present he is general manager of the Bioscience department. He is also Professor of Plant Metabolomics at Wageningen University. Bino will take up the new job on 15 November. / KV
