Argonaut rowers successful again

Argo rower Linde Verbeek and her partner Katrien Hautvast won the Holland Beker for the women’s double sculling in the international rowing regatta Amsterdam. This victory means Verbeek will go through to the world championships in Lucerne, Switzerland.

She will be rowing with a different partner, however. ‘The Dutch rowing federation wants to try it out. They are focusing on the learning process. I am glad that I’ll be rowing in Lucerne, but it is a shame to go knowing that you won’t be able to win.’ Peter Vos, the Argonaut in the Dutch eight, was already assured of a place in the world championships, which take place from 7 to 9 July in Switzerland. In Amsterdam he and his team-mates were the strongest in the open eights on Saturday and Sunday. Jochem van der Hout also rowed in the Holland Beker in an eight for seniors under 23. They won the junior eights. This young Argo rower has placed himself for the Under 23 World Championships in Belgium from 20 – 23 July. / YdH
