Twenty prominent Wageningen alumni have promised help in promoting the university.
The alumni, who are active in both the public and private sectors, will make their knowledge, expertise, time and money available for two projects on student recruitment and ‘entrepreneurial learning’. The group has dubbed itself the ‘Wageningen Ambassadors’, and was made public on Tuesday 9 March during the anniversary celebrations of the University. Dr Aalt Dijkhuizen, chairman of the Executive Board of Wageningen UR, was an important moving force behind the initiative. “The alumni platform is important to us, first and foremost because it represents contact with the outside world, that can pass signals on to us,” Dijkhuizen explained. “All those involved have interesting networks, which makes their contribution broader than what they can offer individually.”
