lecture in the Studium Generale Africa series presented a very different
vision of Africa. Dr Stephen Ellis of the African Studies Centre in Leiden
started with a theoretical discussion of a number of concepts in
development cooperation.

White House, and is known as modernisation. But there are those who now
question this idea of modernisation. The twentieth century was the most
bloody so far, and the environment is becoming seriously polluted.
