Fresh start International Student Panel
Last Saturday the first ISP meeting of the new academic year took place. ISP welcomed four new members from the 1995 - 1997 MSc-programmes, which means that not all the MSc programmes have an ISP representative yet. A provisional agenda was set for the coming period. An important point proved to be the coverage of tuition fees. What kind of costs are covered by the fee? In some of the MSc programmes study materials and photocopying costs are reimbursed or for free, whereas other MSc programmes charge full price for these services.
A second point was the participation of students in the programme committees. Only the MAKS programme committee has a student member and holds meetings in English. Another point of discussion was the bad quality of English translation of certain study materials. Finally, the issue of allotment of rooms by the SSHW was put back on the agenda. It was strongly felt that foreign students should not be alone in a corridor, but that at least two should be housed in the same wing.
