Lovely weather

It has been cork-dry in the Netherlands for a few weeks now. So dry that nature is getting confused.

And this has meant that an army of Wageningers have been kept busy explaining the implications of the drought for trees, midges, potatoes, frogs, meadows and worms. Just for starters. The photo features Arnold van Vliet of the Nature Calendar showing the Volkskrant what great weather it is for oak processionary caterpillars. They have appeared weeks earlier than usual.
