ICT keeps virus out

The ICT department managed to protect the Wageningen UR computer network from infection with the MyDoom virus this week. Many businesses and other universities were badly hit by this latest computer virus. According to Hans Kooper, head of the Servers & Services department of Facilities Management, Wageningen UR was saved by the big spam filter that ICT installed last year. The filter was set up at the portal to the WUR-network, so the chance of intruders getting through is minimised. It took the WUR scanners less than an hour to deal with MyDoom after the virus had been let loose worldwide.
