Wageningen University has appointed five professors holding a personal chair in the last five months.

These are Carolien Kroeze (Environmental Systems Analysis), Hans de Jong (Genetics), Martin van Ittersum (Plant Production Systems), Hauke Smidt (Microbiology) and Willem van Berkel (Biochemistry).
All five are attached to strong chair groups. They have been given Personal Chairs because of their exceptional research capabilities, which have led to significant publications in prestigious journals. They join the ranks of twenty other professors holding a personal chair.
