Helping out is in her blood. ‘It is so satisfying. So enjoyable,’ says Anneke Bammens. Here she is doing adapted exercises with people with an acquired mental disability. ‘The main thing is to have fun together.’ But she also does door-to-door collecting (for the Burns Foundation) and keeps up the church grounds. ‘I am a born volunteer. It’s important to me. I see a lot of people who have loads of spare time but do nothing. I find that hard to take.’ RK
