The Floriade will be opened officially on 5 April and will continue until 7 October. About two million visitors are expected at the 66 hectare expo grounds. Wageningen UR’s stand is in the House of Taste. The horticultural exhibition is based on the ‘cradle to cradle’ principle. This means that in the construction of the park and the buildings, care was taken to recycle materials, water and soil. Wageningen UR Greenhouse Horticulture is also working on a demonstration greenhouse near the Floriade grounds, where the organization plans to conduct research on energy consumption, climate control, water management and optimizing crop farming. The demo greenhouse is featured in the Floriade exhibition. Wageningen UR is also running a number of seminars during the Floriade.
