Co-founder Thijs Verheul is pleased with the recognition they received. ‘Each year there are 20.000 starters under 25 and thereof we are now selected as the best. That is something to be proud of. Moreover, we have worked hard enough for it.’

It is the second award in a year’s time for the boys of the purchase and sales site for hip, vintage clothing. Late last year, United Wardrobe won the Audience Award at the Accenture Innovation Award. In March, the men just missed the win for The Next Entrepreneur. On the platform clothing fans can follow their favorite sellers and chat with each other about the pieces of clothing offered. Since last month, there is also an app for the mobile phone.

From its inception in January 2014 the number of users shot in the first twelve months to 50.000 people. Meanwhile, over 90.000 people have an account now. Together these users trade 150 to 200 garments per day. When added together there are more than 25.000 so far. The site has already been extended to Belgium; the next step is Germany. Thijs: ‘Germany will take some time, but we have our arrows aimed on it.’
