Scanning food using a mobile phone (video)

Detecting explosives? Investigating whether food is safe? Various mobile devices exist to do that. Last week, staff members of Dutch customs, the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), the Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI) and more came together on campus for an experimentation exchange with scientists of RIKILT.

‘At RIKILT, we mostly work on research into food, but it is interesting to see whether the mobile methods used by the NFI to detect drugs also work on food’, explains Yannick Weesepoel, researcher Food Authenticity at RIKILT.
