All purchases will have to be made through the Electronic Ordering System (EBS in Dutch) as of 1 January.
The centralized procurement system will save Wageningen UR 12 million euros a year as bulk orders are relatively cheaper. Invoicing will also take place electronically, enabling links to the central accounts and the chemical registration system GROS. A major disadvantage is that one-off purchases are not yet in the catalogue and so will cost a lot of time. Currently, 56 percent of the purchase orders go through EBS. That has to increase to 100 percent in two months' time.
