The above photo shows a typical 1980’s scene: two groups facing each other, squatters and the anti-riot squad. The tension is palpable. This is the Cuneralaan in Rhenen, moments before the evacuation of nine squatted buildings, in which many Wageningen students lived as well. Photographer Rein Heij shot this picture in 1984.
