Photocopiers in a coma

The Wageningen UR photocopiers are not green enough.

They consume too much energy compared with those at other universities. To tackle this, in the near future a number of photo-copiers will be going into a different standby mode as a test. Instead of just taking a nap, the machines will be more or less in a coma. In practice this means waiting longer before you can print but that should only be a matter of seconds. The experiment involves 3 copiers in Actio and 20 in Radix. Users will be asked about their experiences in the final week. Putting the copiers into a deeper sleep is expected to reduce energy consumption by 30 percent.
