No progress on visas

The Dutch Labour Party (PvdA) met on Tuesday this week with the Minister for Integration and Immigration, Rita Verdonk, to discuss the delays in visa application procedures

Verdonk has promised that there will be improvements, but has set no date within which the current problems must be solved. The PvdA intends to ask questions in the Dutch parliament next week. A spokesperson for the IND (Immigration and Naturalisation Service) said last week that more personnel have been deployed to process the outstanding applications. Wageningen PhD researchers have not yet noticed any improvements, and the Wageningen town council has also not received any new residence permits since the middle of April.
