Since his appointment as rector last year the chair Environmental policy was vacant. The appointment of Bush solves this. The Australian Simon Bush (1976) obtained his PhD in 2005 at the University of Sydney, after which he came to Wageningen as university lecturer. Three years ago he became university senior lecturer and this year personal professor Global Fisheries and Aquaculture Governance. The chair group Environmental policy falls within the section Sociology and Governance of SSG.

Also internally moved are Carolien Kroeze (1964) who will become professor Water systems and global change. She follows Pavel Kabat (Earth System Science) who became director of the renowned institute IILASA in Wenen two years ago. The new chair group falls within the department of environmental sciences of ESG. Kroeze obtained her PhD in 1993 at the University of Amsterdam. In Wageningen she was already personal professor for the chair group Environmental system analysis. Kroeze is also professor at the Open University.

Totally new for Wageningen is Rachel Creamer who will lead the chair group Soil biology and biological soil quality. She follows Lijbert Brussaard who has reached emeritus status. The British Creamer (1975) obtained her PhD in 2005 at the University of Newcastle. At this moment she is performing research for Teagasc, an Irish government institution for the development of food and agriculture.
