Livestock farm design competition

Design a livestock farming system which appeals to animals, farmers and the community at large. Students who submit the best entries will get prize money and the spotlight.

The design competition is organized by Wageningen UR and agricultural universities of applied sciences. The aim is to encourage students to come up with ideas for sustainable livestock husbandry. The organizers are looking for a design for a barn or a production system which fulfils future demands. Therefore, they call to students to form teams – preferably with various disciplines – to come up with a design. The entries should examine issues such as animal welfare and the environment. The winning team will get 1000 euros from a panel of judges from outside the education circle. Its design should aim to broaden the social support base for livestock farming and be able to be implemented in practice. Competition rules and more information can be found on the webpage www.duurzameveehouderij.wur.nl/UK/.
