The state visit and the economic mission are dedicated to sustainable urbanization, agrifood and health. In short, a real Wageningen type theme.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima, among other things are visiting the Sino-Dutch Dairy Development Centre in Beijing. A group of Dutch companies is also visiting the COFCO Eco-Valley near Beijing. Wageningen UR is a partner in both of these projects.

On Tuesday the royal couple visited the Lössplateau. Where Coen Ritsema updated them about the erosion prevention program where the professor Soil Physics and Land Management has worked on for more than 20 years. A seminar about agro-logistics on Wednesday the 28th of October is the last activity that is partly organized by Wageningen UR.

Two of the three Wageningers that are in China this week are actually part of the economic mission: Arthur Mol and account manager China Xiaoyong Zhang. Additionally, three researchers of Wageningen are travelling to China to network with participants of the trade mission and there are four employees already present in China, including three employees of the Wageningen UR China Office.

During the royal visit in China the Wageningen UR will again, similar to previous missions, signs several contracts and memorandums of understanding with Chinese companies and universities.
