KNAW projects for research in China

Five Wageningen groups have received money for new long-term Dutch-Chinese scientific projects.
The KNAW (Royal Dutch Academy for Arts and Sciences) and the Chinese Ministry for Science and Technology are each financing the programme to the tune of 1.36 million euros a year, which includes projects on biotechnology, environment and development economics. A total of fifteen projects have been accepted within the ‘Strategic Scientific Alliances between China and the Netherlands’, and Wageningen is responsible for five of them, in all three subject-fields. The aim of the programme is to undertake joint research in the form of Chinese and Dutch postdoctoral positions. The programme will run for fifteen years, with about one hundred thousand euros available for each project on a yearly basis.
