Spokesperson Hellen Albers of Idealis says that 108 international students are currently looking for housing. ‘We understand that these students are worried. They probably have booked the tickets to their flights and paid the tuition fees. Which would mean that they’re in trouble if they haven’t found a room yet.’

One of the urgent messages on Facebook

Albers says that the organisation is struggling to find enough rooms to accommodate all the students. New rooms are added on the website and Idealis has extra capacity. ‘We still have around ten rooms left in Ede and we added another 50 rooms when we made a deal with hotels. Students can rent a room for 15 euros a night there. Idealis will pay for a daily meal.’ The students can be housed in the hotel rooms until they are offered a student room. Albers: ‘In the end I think every international student will have a room.’ContractIdealis signed an agreement with the university about the guarantee of housing for internation students. The organisation must house at least 850 students every year. At this moment some 700 international students have been allocated in a student room. Of which 68 students have been forwarded to DUWO, another housing company. Albers: ‘We received notice from the university that they have 750 admissions from international students.’
