The inflow of master students was more than 1.7 times as high as the outflow of than bachelor students in 2015. With this Wageningen University has relatively more master students than any other university in the Netherlands.
Above: Inflow masters compared to outflow bachelors per Dutch university.
In 2015 about 42.000 students started their Master’s nationwide. In that same year about 35.000 students finished their Bachelor’s. Thus a fifth more master students started than that there were qualified bachelors. This is mainly because there are a lot more international students that continue their study in the Netherlands, than there are Dutch students going abroad to complete their Master's. Besides that there is also an inflow from universities of applied sciences.
There are only three universities where fewer master students started than bachelor students graduated: Twente, Groningen and Utrecht. The rest all receive more postgraduates than they awarded bachelor degrees. Proportionally, Wageningen University receives the most master students (compared to the number of awarded bachelor degrees), closely followed by Erasmus University Rotterdam.
