Honorary doctor Lenski

A symposium will be held in Wageningen on 14 March in honour of biologist Richard Lenski. The next day he will receive an honorary doctorate as part of the university's 95th anniversary celebrations.

Lenski is known chiefly for his ongoing long-term study of the evolution of 12 bacteria populations, which has already monitored more than 50,000 generations. The symposium is all about tracking evolution in the lab. The speakers include a sizable Wageningen delegation and the soon-to-be honorary doctor will finish off the day. The university bestows honorary doctorates once every five years. Along with Lenski, climate and plant scientist Graham Farquhar and plant biologist Brian Staskawicz will receive honorary doctorates.
