The Day of the International Student (DIS) will be held on Saturday 8 November at the World Forum in The Hague. Nuffic, the Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education, expects about 2000 international students from all over the Netherlands.

The visiting students can meet other international students following similar courses, as well as other students from their home country that they may otherwise never have run into.
There will be a DIS Plaza in the World Forum, with pavilions for each continent, so that students can mingle easily. At these pavilions they will also meet representatives from a number of alumni organizations and associations of people with Dutch academic experience.
The event will be opened by the Dutch Minister of Education, Culture and Science, Mr Ronald Pasterk. Throughout the day there will be presentations, ex¬cursions and workshops on, for example, operating in an international environment and embarking on an international career. There will also be a chance to visit the miniature city Madurodam or the famous Panorama Mesdag.
Kerstin Schweighöfer of the Foreign Press Association will wind up the afternoon with a lecture entitled ‘How to survive the Low Countries: About Cheese & Joints, tolerance & too much water.’ After a buffet dinner, the day will end with a big party with DJ Bus, cover band Blend and plenty of opportunity for karaoke. Fifty international students from Wageningen have already signed up for the day.
Participation in the Day of the International Student will cost €12.50, including dinner. For more information, check out
