A student flash mob wanted to make a statement about the university’s close ties with the business world. About 25 students had dressed up as bees using yellow tape and had themselves sprayed with poison by a ‘scientist’. A reference to mass deaths among honey bees. Dutch TV news programme Zembla recently repeated the suggestion that Wageningen is eating out the hands of pesticide producers, the alleged cause of the bee deaths. Although the university categorically denies the Zembla allegations, the students still thought it was a good idea to send their ‘message’.

Visitors to the Forum canteen on 20 February were served up a merry mass murder with their lunch.
