Faraday discussion

The 158th Faraday Discussion took place in Wageningen between 3 and 5 July.

At this conference scientists have to present their results – which they submit on paper in advance – in just five minutes. This is followed by a 45 minute debate. After the event, both the papers and the discussion are published in the journal Faraday Discussions. The theme of the Wageningen event was soft matter, the branch of physics that studies materials that collapse under pressure. They are often found in food products such as mayonnaise, ice cream and bread.
