Electrocuted eel

Until recently eel were tipped into a saltwater bath while still conscious, causing considerable stress.

Now the first electrocution machine makes it possible to knock them out in one second, as EEG brain scans show. The machine was developed by Imares and Live-Stock research, both part of Wageningen UR, with a grant of Ministery of Economic Affairs, Argiculture and Innovation.
