David Lentink goes to Stanford

Lentink does leading edge research on the flight movements of birds in the Experimental Zoology chair group.

He wants to know how the interaction between Newtonian physics and Darwin’s evolution theory produces different kinds of propulsion in the natural world. His research has won him several NWO grants during recent years and has led to numerous articles in Science and Nature. He is currently running the Flight Artists project, for which he won the 2010 Academic prize. It is not yet known when Lentink will be departing for Stanford University. He has been offered a four-year research contract there. He will continue to be a member of the Experimental Zoology chair group in Wageningen.
