Essenstam is on holiday with his Filipino wife (on the right in the picture) in her native country. He searched for several Filipinos who studied in Wageningen, or who are doing or did a PhD here. The Wageningen alumni in the picture all live in the vicinity of the City of Davao in the south of the Philippines.
