Breeding algae on top of NEMO

A Wageningen algae nursery is to be located on the roof of the Amsterdam science museum NEMO.

Between 7 September and 9 October visitors can see how you grow algae as a source of sustainable energy, biobased material and nutrition. This is all part of a two-day conference called Transnatural, where discussions will focus on sustainable technologies that do not exhaust nature but ‘play by her rules’. For anyone wanting to know more about this subject: on 17 September René Wijffels, professor of Bioprocess Technology at Wageningen UR will be talking about algae as a sustainable source of raw materials, among other things. There are a few cheap tickets left, available to Wageningers via Transnatural.
