Bike parking Forum overloaded

The start of the new academic year has caused an accumulation of bikes outside Forum. The shortage of parking spaces for bicycles is only temporary, though.

‘The first week of the year is always incredibly busy in Forum, because students have to collect their student cards and books here. Hence, this week all bicycle racks are full and students are asked to park on the grass’, says Ludy Zeeuwen, location manager of Forum.

Zeeuwen expects that from next week Forum’s available parking space will suffice. But she is not quite sure. ‘It is even busier now than in previous years, because all education from De Dreijen now takes place on campus too.’ The area that was previously used by Van Hall Larenstein was converted into extra lecture and computer rooms for the university this summer. If in the coming weeks it is found that there is still a shortage in rack space, then a solution needs to be created. ‘But on the other hand, Orion’s basement still has a lot of bike space available. As long as that is the case, it actually does not make sense to build extra parking space for Forum.’
