Ball of a time on Queen’s Day

The students of the Wageningen rugby club were up and about early on Queen's Day. At 9 a.m., they started the ball rolling to get Wageningen residents acquainted with their sport.

In the early hours, 100 cubic metres of beach sand were dumped onto the market square, opposite the terrace of café ‘de Tijd’. The students called on passers-by to take part in a ‘flag-rugby’ contest, a less strenuous form of the game. Their call attracted mainly the young ones. These rugby clinics were held alongside a tournament of the Scylla volleyball club. Queen’s Day gave both clubs a good opportunity to draw the attention of ‘Wageningers’ to themselves.
