ASG to set up course in Russia

The Animal Sciences Group is going to set up a training programme for dairy and pig farm managers together with Russian universities and Dutch companies working in Russia.

ASG was asked by the Dutch ministry of agriculture to help build up the Dutch Knowledge and Training Centre in various locations in Russia. The Dutch minister of agriculture Gerda Verburg has set aside 3.2 million euros for the centre, which will focus on dairy and pig farming. The education project that ASG will help set up has a budget of 700 thousand euros.

Monice van Dongen of ASG is involved in the preparations and says there is a gap between the expertise that the students acquire at Russian agricultural universities and the skills they need to start running livestock enterprises. ASG has six months to formulate a training programme together with its Russian partners. After four years it must be integrated in the courses offered at various universities.
