Wieger Wamelink receives the Klokhuis Science Prize (video)

Ecologist Wieger Wamelink has received the Klokhuis Wetenschapsprijs (Klokhuis Science Prize). His research into edible vegetables on Mars was the most appealing to a jury of children and the editorial staff of the popular children’s scientific television programme.

Wieger Wamelink’s alien crop farming competed with five other research programmes at the cultural centre LUX in Nijmegen. Other nominated projects included research on robots in school and why people cry.

It is the first time the Klokhuis Science Prize has been awarded. As part of the prize, the television programme will dedicate an episode to the cultivation of vegetables on Mars.
